Evaluation of functional and value creation Knowledge Management

After the Service Delivery Value Creation in more detail, the supportive Augmented Knowledge of the Business Functions/Process Activities is evaluated.

Problems and Solutions

Often Knowledge Management is hardly focused on supporting Operations with delivering accessible and useful Functional Knowledge. Enterprise Architects delivers two types (three subtypes) of functional Augmented Knowledge:

  1. Augmented Knowledge in the form of functional knowledge per Business Function
  2. Augmented Knowledge in the form of functional information per Window
    • Augmented Knowledge in the form of explanatory information of the functional use, limitations/constraints, Help information etc.
    • Augmented Knowledge in the form contextual knowledge accessible via a Knowledge Tree of Business Function/Process Activity with information of the different Process components like process activities, events, results, decision trees, and gateways, and the Business Function components like the presentation services including their relationships with other components like windows, other presentations services, information services, data services, and technical services, and Business RuleSets

Tools to support Product Knowledge Management

During the design phase it is possible to add the necessary Functional Augmented Knowledge of the Business Process and the Process Activities/Business Functions/Apps in the three ways as described above. Because the proposition maintenance Apps are automatically generated in AMM (see Tools to support Proposition Modeling) this functionality can be used to maintain this knowledge via these Apps.

Advantages of the Enterprise Architects approach

  1. In an early stage the value creation is analyzed
  2. The results can of this analysis can lead to a direct applicable knowledge management on functional level for operations. This means that the Evaluation of Product related functionalities can already be performed after the integrated creation of value in the service delivery area has been analyzed. With the ABODE™ approach and the Enterprise Architecture (EA3.0™) methodologies and solutions, techniques and tools support in:
    • The analysis of value creation in many different value dimensions of the service delivery chain of business, information delivery and IT components
    • The improvement of supporting processes, information systems and Apps
    • The maintenance and optimization of functional Knowledge related to Value Creation
    • The analysis of the internal and external innovation Fit/Gap, including proposals for improvement and management of value creation and supporting functional Knowledge
